May 2025 Newsletter

Amy:  Why don’t eggs tell each other jokes?

Michael: They might crack up.

Friends,

We recently went into NYC for Frankie to attend a dance master class on Broadway and to see Wicked for Johnny’s 17th birthday.  Hit Eataly for lunch too. Kids are growing up fast. We have college coming up too and I’m open to financial aid suggestions for that.

I hope your spring is off to a peaceful and sunny start. May brings us blooms, blue skies, and a reminder to appreciate the people who matter most—especially as we approach Mother’s Day.

Before I dive into this month’s updates, a quick heads-up: if you have a Humana or AARP Medicare supplement, your premium is scheduled to go up on June 1. You should have received a notice from your company.  Humana is a little cheaper and both are fine companies. Anthem’s rates have been in this ballpark since January 2025.

And don’t forget—I post helpful tips and updates in my Tuesday Topic video series on Facebook and my website. New topic: Should Billionaires Still Collect Social Security?

Tune in weekly or check past episodes in my blog anytime! Recently, I was able to influence the Social Security Administration to change a rule on in person identity verification.  It was announced 3-25-25, modified 3-27-25 and then a full U-turn 4-15-25.

All of these videos are posted in my blog as well as many other good ones from past Tuesdays.  Thanks for watching especially Ellen W. who watches every one.

Kind Regards,

Michael Antonini

What’s New

Fresh updates you might want to know about:

  • Medicare Advantage plans expanding preventive benefits. Some plans are now covering additional wellness services, screenings, or even fitness programs. These benefits can keep you healthy and save you money—let me know if you’d like to check what’s available to you.

  • Behind-the-scenes changes from insurers. Even outside of Open Enrollment, plans like Aetna, Anthem, and others sometimes make midyear changes. If you’ve received a notice or are just curious, I’m happy to review it with you.

  • Mid Year Notice of benefits used.  Soon you should also be receiving a first ever mid year notice of benefits used to be sure you are taking advantage of all the benefits on your plan

  • $0 Cost Gym Membership.  Most Medicare advantage and Medicare Supplement plans have a $0 gym membership benefit.  Are you taking advantage of that?  Even if it’s just a yoga class?  Do you need me to help you find a gym?

Ask An Expert: AI-Designed Peaceful Day Bingo Card

“How can I have a peaceful, productive day when life gets busy?”

Great question—because staying organized and centered isn’t just good for your health, it helps you stay on top of things like Medicare, too. Here’s a fun tool I recently created for myself and for you: the “Peaceful Day Bingo Card.” It includes things like:

  • Walk outside

  • Drink water

  • Call a friend

  • Take a 5-minute stretch

It’s a simple way to stay mindful, take care of your to-do list, and still enjoy the moment. Try checking off just a few squares per day and see how it feels.
